Following the First Franco-Chilean Workshop on Image Guided Surgery and Diagnosis (Santiago de Chile, November 2003), this new edition will for the second time bring together computer scientists, mathematicians and clinicians who are contributing to Computer Assisted Diagnosis and Surgery. The conference will concentrate on advances in medical imaging, tissue modelling, surgical simulation, and medical robotics. The three days workshop consists of invited talks by internationally recognized experts as well as non parallel oral sessions.

Invited talks:

- Christophe Chaillou (INRIA, Lille)
"A physically-based Environment dedicated to Surgical Simulation : principles and examples"
- Jean-Louis Coatrieux (INSERM, Rennes)
"Physiological Modelling and Computer Assisted Therapy"
- Stéphane Cotin (CIMIT, Boston)
"Medical Training and Simulation at CIMIT"
- Pascal Frey (JL LIONS, Paris)
"From medical images to computational meshes"
- Marcelo Galvez (INCA, Santiago)
"Post-processing applications in Neuroimaging: Quantitative Analysis, functional MRI and Fluid dynamics in Cerebral Aneurysm"
- Julian Mattes (UMIT, Hall in Tirol)
"Model based motion analysis in medical and biological images"
- Behzad Shariat (LIRIS, Lyon)
"Modelling and Simulating Organs Deformations: Integration of Physiological Parameters"
- Felipe Valdivía (INCA-Clinica Alemana, Santiago)
"Computer Asisted surgery, development and advance in neurosurgery"

Conference schedule:

October 15th, 2005 : First Call for papers
November 29th, 2005 : Second Call for papers
December 30th, 2005 : Extended Deadline for submission of 4 pages papers
January 6th, 2006 : Notification of acceptance
March 8-10th, 2006 : The Workshop

Conference Topics:

- Medical Image Computing
- Computer Assisted Interventional Systems and Robotics
- Tissue Biomechanical modelling
- Medical Simulation
- Virtual and Augmented Reality

Submission of papers:

All submissions will be considered for oral presentations and will be reviewed by an international scientific committee. Authors are required to submit a up to 4 pages paper, police Times 12. In the case of acceptance, a camera-ready paper will be asked to be published in the conference proceedings. A particular consideration will be given to papers where the emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary research linking medical imaging, mathematical modelling, robotics and clinics. The conference language will be English.
Submission should be send to: image@dim.uchile.cl
